September 29, 2020 - GMM opens new Missionary Positions

  • The Office of Volunteer Ministries (OVM) has approved GMM's request for specific call positions listed here.

August 14, 2020 - NAD Office of Volunteer suspends deployment of AVS volunteers

  • The Office of Volunteer Ministries (OVM) at the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists released that they "will not be deploying volunteers due to COVID-19 and its implications to the safety of our volunteers. We expect to see this decision reviewed on January 1st, 2021 an update will be given." This includes volunteer positions in the Guam-Micronesia Mission.

May 10, 2020 - Government of Guam implements Pandemic Condition of Readiness (PCOR) levels

Guam -

  • According to the Governor of Guam's plan to reopen, Guam moves down to Pandemic Condition of Readiness 2 (PCOR) as described on the Governor's Facebook post. Check government resources at bottom of this webpage for current conditions.

March 20, 2020 - GMM islands change status according to the GMM Coronavirus Contingency Plan

All GMM islands - Moved to Threat Level 3

  • In accordance with the U.S. Department of State announcing a Global Level 4 Health Advisory - Do Not Travel on March 19, 2020 Eastern Time, all GMM student missionaries and Adventist Volunteer Service (AVS) personnel are strongly advised to return to home countries.

March 18, 2020 - Chuuk school closes

Chuuk - Moved to Threat Level 2

  • Along with local schools, Chuuk SDA School is closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

March 17, 2020 - Yap and Pohnpei schools close

Yap - Moved to Threat Level 2

  • Along with local schools, Yap SDA School is closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Pohnpei - Remains on Threat Level 2

  • Pohnpei SDA School is closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

March 16, 2020 - Confirmed cases on Guam

As of yesterday, March 15, there are 3 confirmed cases in Guam. Press Release from Guam Homeland Security.

Guam - Moved to Threat Level 2

  • Along with local schools, Guam Adventist Academy is closed until further notice.
  • All Guam Adventist church services are cancelled through the end of March.

Pohnpei - Moved to Threat Level 2

  • Along with local schools, Pohnpei SDA School is closed until further notice.

  • Guidelines for when a church should stop potlucks and church services.

March 8, 2020 - Update on Island status

  • The suspected case of COVID-19 in CNMI has been confirmed negative.
  • The PUI in the Republic of the Marshall Islands has tested negative.
  • The PUI in Palau has tested negative by the Taiwan lab results.

March 4, 2020 - Release of Coronavirus Contingency Plan

  • No confirmed cases of COVID-19 on any island in GMM
  • One Person Under Investigation (PUI) in Palau, and continuing to monitor reliable news sources.
  • Although there are no confirmed cases within GMM territory, the likelihood of coronavirus coming into the islands is high due to our close proximity to countries with outbreaks or confirmed cases.
  • Includes details for our planned 'Threat Levels' for each of our island schools.
  • All of our islands are at Threat Level 1
