GMM Welcomes New President

Guam-Micronesia Mission's 17th President

Guam-Micronesia Mission welcomes the new mission president, Pastor Matthew Kirk, along with his wife Mari, his daughter Molly, and his son Makson. They were introduced at the Agana Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church on September 4th, where members across the region listened to Pastor Kirk’s inaugural sermon in-person and online.

Pastor Kirk comes to GMM after most recently serving as the treasurer and executive secretary of the Montana Conference. He brings a wide range of ministry and business experience to GMM that he has gained both inside and outside of denominational employment.

He received his Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University and completed his undergraduate studies in business management. He also has pursued additional education and training in pastoral counseling and has served as a law enforcement chaplain.

Pastor Kirk and Mari have served nearly 20 years together in various ministry capacities. As a family, they enjoy the outdoors and travel and look forward to connecting with people throughout the GMM territory.

Pastor Kirk expressed their joy at finally arriving on Guam. "Our family is grateful for the Lord's leading in bringing us to GMM. We are already blessed by the beauty that surrounds us and the hospitality and welcoming spirit of the people we have had the chance to meet.”

Looking at the challenges and opportunities that God’s people face at this point in earth’s history, Pastor Kirk is reminded of Isaiah 55:6 which says, “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:”

He believes that we must seek the Lord and the outpouring of His Spirit so that we can experience the success promised in spreading the distinct three angels’ messages. These messages proclaim to the world that God loves us and that time is running out for us to seek Him while He is near.

“We welcome the Kirk family with great joy,” smiled Pastor Remenster Jano, GMM Executive Secretary. "I thank God for sending us Pastor Kirk as our mission president. I strongly believe that Matthew’s experience will be a blessing to our mission. We are praying for this beautiful family as they begin their transition to Guam-Micronesia Mission.”

GMM Treasurer Donald Lloyd, Jr. added, "We are so happy to have Pastor Kirk and his family join the GMM family. The team is excited to collaborate with him as we further God's work in the islands."

Please join us in offering a warm reception to Pastor Kirk and his family, as well as lifting them up in prayer as they set out to serve the precious mission field throughout Micronesia.
