Three Angels Over Chuuk

"Then I saw another angel...having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people" (Rev. 14:6, NKJV)

Ten precious souls were baptized this month on Chuuk, including eight young people from middle and high school! Two more members reaffirmed their love and commitment for the Lord through rebaptism.

This is the fruit of evangelistic meetings held at the Bay View Building in Weno, Chuuk. Under the theme "Three Angels Flying Over Bay View”, we focussed on the three angels and their messages found in Revelation 14:6-10. Each of the 24 evening meetings began with short health lectures, like our five-day Stop Smoking Plan. We met every evening except Fridays, and twice on Saturdays. Praise songs were sung in Chuukese and different groups were assigned special music. We handed out free Bibles and “Steps to Christ” in the Chuukese language. Each of the spiritual messages concluded with a nightly appeal. Most of our members showed what they had learned as they excelled during quizzes on the previous messages.

Outdoor evangelistic meetings on Chuuk

We tasted God’s goodness during the meetings! It was amazing that the rain stopped just before the meetings and shortly after, so people did not get wet. We would drive to the village of Mechitiw, on the farther end of the Chuuk airport, to pick up students for the series.

One living testimony is TJ, one of the children of our good friend who is a congressman from Fefen island. He is a changed boy! His parents said that they are very happy to see the difference in their son. It has been a witness to his mother who is a doctor at the Chuuk hospital. Their son had been expelled from our Chuuk SDA School because of a fight he was involved in by accident. He is a quiet, gentle boy. He even calls me “Dad” and my wife “Mom” as we have been mentoring him and teaching him how to read and write in English and Chuukese. He faithfully attended this evangelistic meeting. Join us in praying that this boy will accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Also pray for Linda Mori, the owner of the building. She had been attending the meetings and is a very devout Catholic. Linda has been very impressed by the health messages and spiritual messages. She said, “I thought only the hospital can teach about health, now I see how your church is teaching health and (how it is) interwoven (with) the spiritual message from the Bible. It is so amazing!” This was the first time she heard about the three angels’ message.

We give God the glory for the for baptism of these precious souls.

Tersy, a newly baptized member from Ruo island, is finishing her Education degree at the College of Micronesia. We hope that she become one of the teachers at our Chuuk SDA School next year. Our security guard at SDA school, Mateus, is so excited about his new found faith and may soon become one of the leaders of our church. Pray for these, and all our newly baptized members, as they continue the work of planting seeds.

Hearts are being touched by this revival. Our meetings continue at the Bay View through joint worship and this new church group needs our prayers. Keep the state of Chuuk in your prayers as more of these evangelistic meetings are planned for the Sabuk village on Weno, and to the farther islands of Paata, Ruo, and Hoak.
